I'm new! What do I need to know?

We know how you feel! It’s never easy to be a first-time guest, and we want you feel right at home with us. Here are a few answers to the questions you might be asking. . .

What time does your service start?

Our worship service is on Sunday mornings at 10:30, and folks typically start arriving around 10:15. We always have a Welcome Team ready to greet guests at the door and point you in the right direction.

What should I wear?

There is no dress code at Community, and you will see people dressed in everything from jeans to a suit. Most folks wear what you would call “business casual.” We care about you, not what you wear. Come dressed as you feel most comfortable.

What is a worship service like?

Our worship services are typically about one hour and fifteen minutes long. We open with a time of welcome and singing. Don’t worry if you don’t know the songs—you can just enjoy listening or feel free to join in! We sing a combination of classic hymns and modern Gospel songs to our amazing God, with a spirit of reverence and joy.

The main part of the service is our time of learning from God’s Word, the Bible. Our pastor or a special speaker will share a message that is timely, uplifting, and practical. If you have a Bible, feel free to bring it with you. If you don’t have one, we will be happy to share one of our ours with you.

I have kids, so where do they go?

We have a thriving children’s program, and your kids are welcome! Infants to age three can be cared for in our clean, well-staffed nursery. Of course, you are more than welcome to keep them in the service with you as well.

Kids age 4 through 6th grade will have their own morning service with age-appropriate Bible teaching, games, and crafts. They will be dismissed from the main worship service after the opening singing time. Kids 7th grade and up are welcome to join us in the main worship service.

We take the safety and security of our children very seriously. Our children’s ministry workers are caring and experienced, and each are vetted with a background check before joining the ministry.

Can I talk with a pastor?

Yes, we would love to meet you! Our pastor will be in the lobby after the service and would be delighted to say hello and learn about your visit with us. If you have more questions and would like to talk with someone in a more confidential setting, we will set up a time to meet at the earliest opportunity.

Are there opportunities for me to volunteer and serve?

Yes! There are many different ways to get involved at Community such as serving in nursery, choir, orchestra, Awana, welcome team, sound booth,  youth group, special events, various outreaches, and so much more.

Are there activities for someone in my life stage?

Absolutely! We have an active young adult group that meets monthly for a time of Bible study and fellowship as well as for occasional recreational activities. Our J.O.Y. class (senior saints) also meets for monthly activities. There is a monthly men’s group that meets for prayer and breakfast and a growing ladies ministry. There are also various churchwide activities throughout the year.

I’ve never tried out church. I’m not sure what to do.

You’ve come to the right place! Community is home to people of all different backgrounds and walks of life. Whether this is your first time visiting any church, or you grew up in another Baptist church, you will feel welcome with us. Our heartbeat is that you will truly feel at home.

What if I’m not a Baptist?

The word “Baptist” can mean different things to different people—especially so in the last few decades. Our focus here at Community is not whether or not you are a Baptist. Rather, it is helping you connect to the fulfillment and healing that comes from knowing Jesus Christ.

This info is great, but I have more questions.
